Question 1

Is my photo uploaded to a server?

Accepted Answer

No. Compression happens inside your browser using your own device, so the image never leaves your computer or phone.

Question 2

Will compressing reduce the quality?

Accepted Answer

Slightly, but usually not in a way you can see. Set a target size and we keep as much quality as possible while staying under it.

Question 3

Can I compress a PNG?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Choose PNG for lossless compression that keeps transparency, or use WebP/AVIF for lossy output. PNG has no target-size guarantee.

Question 4

What if my image is still too big?

Accepted Answer

Very large photos may also need to be made smaller in width and height. Turn on “Also reduce dimensions” or use the Resize Image tool first.
